Welcome to Claritas. By using our service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Service Description

Claritas is a scholarly research tool that helps researchers annotate papers, connect evidence across sources, and build structured arguments. The service is provided by Opus Vita Inc.

2. Account Terms

• You must be 18 years or older to use this service.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account.
• You may not use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.

3. Your Data

Your data belongs to you. We claim no intellectual property rights over the content you create using Claritas—your annotations, arguments, and research notes remain yours.

• You can export your data at any time using our export features.
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Payment Terms

• Free accounts are available with limited features as described on our pricing page.
• Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually depending on your selection.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Refunds are provided at our discretion. Contact support for refund requests.
• Prices may change with 30 days notice. Existing subscriptions are not affected until renewal.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Claritas to:

• Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights.
• Engage in harassment, abuse, or harmful conduct toward others.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts.
• Use automated systems to scrape or extract data without permission.
• Resell or redistribute the service without authorization.

6. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. For significant changes, we will provide at least 30 days notice when possible.

7. Limitation of Liability

Claritas is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
